Metro Detroit-based artist, Joey Salamon (b.1988, Lafayette, IN), combines eye-catching patterns, a rainbow color palate and repeating three-dimensional geometric shapes in his work that spans projects ranging from album cover art, larger-than-life street murals to restaurant interior design.
Salamon grew up in the mid-century modern mecca of Midland, MI where he continues to use architectural references from his hometown in his work. He graduated from Grand Valley State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Art & Design in 2010. After graduating, Salamon moved several times across the US expanding his artistic vision in places like the tiny Hawaiian island of Molokai, Chicago as well as an internship with internationally recognized artist, Jen Stark, in Miami.

Salamon helped create the Bobcat Bonnie’s restaurant concept alongside partner Matthew Buskard where today his interior design work is front and center at the six locations across metro-Detroit and Grand Rapids, MI. Bobcat Bonnie’s has been featured on Travel Channel’s “Food Paradise,” Food Network’s “Cheap Eats” and in 2019 was named by Thrillist as one of the “24 best brunches in America.”
